about

The band composed this as a whole at a rehearsal in 2018. Later, Elias wrote the lyrics and Lamine composed the bàkk.

lyrics

He’s got his hands upon the wheel, eyes on the road
The rainy city goes by in streaks, out the window
Don’t you feel like we’re sleeping, feel like we’re dreaming
and if we could wake up, what kind of world would we grow?

His pain sits with mine, but we sit alone
Strangers and yet we both think it’s possible
In these conversations I feel there’s a home for all of us somewhere
He goes left at the bridge and I’m lost in the glaze of the evening glow

And it’s so hard to know where to turn or if this is our road
But I know there is peace and kindness where we go
And I can see the green valley of hope laid out before us
We have to walk towards it
We have to try for it

So what would it look like he says, I want to know
We’re sitting at a stoplight just waiting for the signal to go
I see houses of plenty where the doors are always open
He says I see my grandmother’s face, and it’s not quite so broken, so broken

And it’s so hard to know where to turn or if this is our road
But I know there is peace and kindness where we go
And I can see the green valley of hope laid out before us
We have to walk towards it
We have to try for it
